Discover Antwerp

Growing student metropolis

Antwerp is not your average student city, but a buzzing metropolis with 500,000 inhabitants and as many as 170 different nationalities. Meanwhile 50,000 students are mingling into this mix effortlessly. No closed-off student bubble here, since in Antwerp, this is real-life studying.

In recent years the student population has increased considerably, together with the city. Since 2008 it has expanded by 38%, which makes us the fastest growing student city of Flanders. Antwerp students are everywhere and live and study amongst the Antwerp natives. That’s what makes Antwerp an atypical student city.

“When you think of Belgium, you think of chocolate. Did you know that you can snort chocolate at Paleis op de Meir on a weekday? It’s a crazy rollercoaster that you definitely have to experience once in your lifetime.”
