Home is where the… is (II)

Some blank walls, a small bed and a desk. Admittedly in it’s basic form a student room doesn’t exactly scream homeliness. Considering you’ll spend quite some time in this little room of yours, it wouldn’t hurt to liven it up. So how do you, without major renovations, turn this space into a home away from home? We asked four students for their tips and tricks.

Today’s tips are from: Marloes, Sociology student

“I moved in with two of my friends. They’d already been living here for some years, so this house was no stranger to me. I think that helped to make it feel more like home. But the kitchen also definitely is a huge plus. At my last student house the kitchen was an absolute nightmare. It was dirty and completely deteriorating. You just don’t want to cook in that sort of place. Now I love to spend time cooking. That makes me feel so much more at home.

I found some old pictures and liked them so much I took them with me. They hang on this little wire grid in front of my desk. So when I’m studying I can look at them from time to time. .”
