‘Hi STAN, can we go thriftshopping?’

Macklemore knew that he was gonna pop some tags with only 20 dollars in his pocket and the whole world followed: ‘Can we go thriftshopping?!’ While secondhand shopping has become a global trend, there keep on being critical voices. But why is thriftshopping the way to go? Let us tell you about all the benefits this habit has! Thrift stores are the more sustainable way of shopping because they reduce wasteand create opportunities for recycling. You’re not going to throw away those pants you bought in the wrong size, are you? Or a vintage picture frame that’s still in great shape doesn’t belong in the trash, does it? This is exactly why you can find beautiful items of good quality at half the price in a thrift store. What’s not to love!

Another great thing about thrift shopping is that you can always find unique items. An Ikea cabinet is handy, but a characterful, oak furniture for no money turns out to be way more personal and authentic. Second hand items, carefully chosen yourself, will make you instantly feel at home in your dorm. Besides, you also create the ideal backdrop for inviting your new friends into your über cozy dorm! The same goes for clothing: of course you want to keep up with the latest fashion, but you don’t want to be a copycat, do you? Second-hand shopping helps you find your own style, regardless of brands and price tags. Come in and reinvent yourself in the Kot Kringwinkel at STAN.

Pray to the thrifting gods

Make sure to say a little prayer to the thrifting gods, they will help you find blissful stuff! But how do you get started? You definitely need patience to find your masterpeace. It sometimes takes a while until you find yours among that mix of styles, but don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone either. The new academic year is the perfect timing to adjust your image a bit and maybe even consider a glow-up! When shopping for interiors, it can help to bring along a picture of your dorm on your cell phone. That way you can visualize where you could hang a frame, for example, or check how much space you have left in your closet. With these tips in your back pocket, your thriftdate with STAN will be a huge success!
